6 years agoCarolina Hurricanes left wing Brock McGinn posted an unassisted goal midway through the second period in regulation and he notched the game-winning tally in the shootout Friday in a 4-3 victory against the San Jose Sharks. He also chipped in with a plus-1 rating, blocked shot and a hit. It likely felt great for McGinn, who entered the game scoreless through his first nine outings. Now that he has the monkey off of his back he might be ready to get down to business. He posted 16 goals with 30 points through 80 games last season, and another step forward is expected for the 24-year-old this season.--Daniel Dobish
