Broncos Hire Tyrone Wheatley As Running Backs Coach
3 years agoThe Denver Broncos hired former Morgan State head coach Tyrone Wheatley as their running backs coach under head coach Nathaniel Hackett on Wednesday. Wheatley spent the last three seasons at Morgan State, but before that he worked as the running backs coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2017-18 and as the Buffalo Bills running backs coach. Wheatley and Hackett both coached together in Jacksonville and Buffalo, and also overlapped at Syracuse from 2010-12. He was drafted in the first round of 1995 by the New York Giants and had almost 5,000 rushing yards during his career with the Giants and Oakland Raiders. Wheatley will have the job of getting more out of Javonte Williams, who is coming off an impressive rookie season.
