Browns Pick Up Fifth-Year Options For David Njoku, Myles Garrett
5 years agoThe Cleveland Browns will pick up the fifth-year options of both tight end David Njoku and defensive end Myles Garrett, according to a league source. Both players were 2017 first-round draft picks of the team. Garrett has developed into one of the top pass rushers in the league, making his fifth-year pick up a no-brainer but there was some question as to whether Cleveland would do the same for Njoku. Njoku struggled through injury and ineffective play in 2019 while also finding himself in the dog house of former head coach Freddie Kitchens. The Browns put concerns regarding Njoku to rest on Monday, locking up the talented but inconsistent tight end through the end of the 2021 season. He should see plenty of action in 2020 as new head coach Kevin Stefanski likes to run two-tight end sets frequently.
