Brutal Start To The Season Continues For Joey Votto
3 years agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in the Reds' 4-3 loss to the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. It has been an absolutely horrible start to the 2022 campaign for Votto who is now slashing just .129/.291/.143 with no homers, three RBI, and 27 strikeouts through 21 games and 70 at-bats. The 38-year old Votto is coming off a 2021 campaign in which he slashed .266/.375/.563 to go with 36 HR and 99 RBI. Managers are hoping this poor April is not a sign of Votto's age catching up with him. For now, fantasy managers who have other options at first base may wish to bench Votto until he shows some signs of life at the plate. Hopefully, as the calendar flips to May, he can start to turn things around.
