Bryce Harper Likely To Need Surgery
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper (thumb) is likely to need surgery to fix his fractured left thumb, but the good news is that he plans to be back this year. Harper's thumb was broken on a pitch by San Diego Padres lefty Blake Snell last Saturday, and the Phillies put Harper on the injured list on Sunday. Last year's National League MVP was hitting a strong .318/.385/.599 with a .985 OPS, 15 home runs, 48 RBI, 49 runs scored and nine stolen bases, so this is a huge blow to the Phillies and fantasy managers alike. The Phillies are hoping that the 29-year-old superstar can return at the end of August, so fantasy managers will have to be very patient. Nick Castellanos should serve as the team's primary designated hitter with Harper out, while outfielders Matt Vierling and Mickey Moniak will likely split time in right field.
