Bryce Harper To Test His Arm Tuesday
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper (elbow) is scheduled to test his injured right elbow on Tuesday by throwing in a pre-game workout in Philadelphia. However, even in a best-case scenario, it's doubtful that Harper will play defense this week, according to manager Joe Girardi. The team will want him to increase the intensity and distance of his throws before putting him back in the outfield in a game. Harper, who was diagnosed with an elbow strain, will continue to be the designated hitter for four games at home this week against the Colorado Rockies and a three-game weekend series against the division-rival New York Mets. He's been the DH for seven straight games, including Sunday night against the Milwaukee Brewers. When Harper is healthy, Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos will see most of the DH at-bats.
