Bryson Stott, Alec Bohm Make Opening Day Roster
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Bryson Stott and third baseman Alec Bohm have been informed that they've made the Opening Day roster. The Phillies believe they can make it work with both players in April without sacrificing too much playing time. Stott is the team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he had a 1.261 OPS with more walks than strikeouts in spring training to earn the call-up. There's a chance that the 24-year-old shortstop could platoon at third base with Bohm, who hit .247/.305/.342 with seven home runs, 47 RBI and 46 runs scored in 115 games for the Phils last year. Stott would have the upper hand for more at-bats in a straight platoon as the left-handed bat against right-handers, and he could also fill in at shortstop or second base, if needed.
