Buccaneers Could Consider Tagging Carlton Davis
3 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers cornerback Carlton Davis missed seven games in 2021 due to a quadriceps injury, but he still had 11 passes defensed to bring his four-year total to 52. Tampa is in a transition period after quarterback Tom Brady's retirement, and they'll have to decide which starters to keep heading into free agency next month. Davis is the team's No. 1 cornerback, when healthy, and placing the franchise tag on him would allow the team to work on a big-money extension for the 2023 offseason. The Buccaneers are projected to have much more salary cap space next year. The 25-year-old finished the 2021 regular season with 39 tackles and one interception in 10 games played.
