Buccaneers Not Committing to Jameis Winston

6 years agoBuccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston is not guaranteed the starting role upon his return from suspension. Winston violated the league's personal conduct policy back in 2016 and will serve a three-game suspension to start the season. Ryan Fitzpatrick is expected to open the season as the starter and he may continue to start if the team is winning. The timing to come out with a comment like this is weird given that Winston has had a phenomenal preseason (not that it matters too much). Winston is PFF's number one rated quarterback this preseason. With a revamped offensive line and improved run-game, it seemed like he was setting up for a breakout season. Nevertheless, the likeliest scenario is Winston starting game four upon his activation but the fact that there is some doubt is concerning.--Kev Mahserejian - RotoBaller
