Buster Posey Not In The Starting Lineup Saturday
3 years agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey (back) isn't in the team's lineup on Saturday. Posey wasn't in Friday's lineup either after being scratched due to back tightness. He's enjoying a stellar season at the plate but won't start against Oakland Athletics right-hander Frankie Montas. The 34-year-old has been baseball's best catcher so far, batting .322 with a .411 on-base percentage in 207 plate appearances. What's more, he's collected 12 home runs. For reference, Posey hit a total of 24 home runs in his last three full seasons combined, including 12 from 2018 to 2019. Curt Casali will instead start behind the plate and is batting eighth. Casali, who hits right-handed, has struggled so far in 2021. The catcher is batting .174 with a .297 on-base percentage in 101 plate appearances. Still, he could be worth a look in daily and season-long formats if you're desperate for a streaming option at catcher. The 32-year-old has a 12.9% walk rate this season, and right-handed batters own a .333 on-base percentage and a .357 wOBA against Montas in 2021.
