4 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton went 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, a pair of walks, and a stolen base in a 6-5 loss to the Brewers on Opening Day. Buxton's home run ball was sent into orbit- as it left his bat at an exit velocity of 111.4 MPH and traveled 456 feet. The 27-year-old did strike out twice, but the two walks were a good sign, as they equaled his number of free passes from 2020. After muscling up this offseason, there was some concern that the added bulk would affect Buxton's speed, though he alleviated those concerns by swiping a base in the first game of the year. You couldn't write a better start to the season for the 27-year-old, who looks poised to deliver an excellent season, so long as he stays on the field.--Tim Capurso
