4 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (foot) is not in the lineup for the Opening Day contest against the Chicago White Sox. Buxton was able to swing the bat and run on Wednesday but is not quite ready for game speed. There's likely a chance he suits up at some point in the series against Chicago. Jake Cave gets the start in place of Buxton in center and will bat seventh against the righty Lucas Giolito. Giolito was particularly stingy against left-handed batters such as Cave, holding them to a .572 OPS and 53 hits across 331 plate appearances in 2019.--Tim Capurso
