4 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hip) was placed on the 10-day injured list with a Grade 2 hip strain. Buxton was forced to leave Thursday's contest after pulling up with a limp while trying to beat out a grounder at first base and will now have to miss extended time due to the ailment. Manager Rocco Baldelli indicated that the star outfielder is expected to be sidelined for longer than 10 days and more like "weeks," which is a pretty grim assessment for both the Twins and Buxton's fantasy managers. Buxton has raced out of the gate to the tune of a 1.180 OPS with nine homers and five stolen bases, though his injury history has reared its ugly head multiple times this season, with this hip strain expected to be his most lengthy absence so far. The Twins have called up Trevor Larnach in a corresponding roster move.--Tim Capurso
