Byron Buxton Sitting Out For Game 1
2 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton will take a seat for Game 1 of a doubleheader on Tuesday against the Cleveland Guardians. The Twins just aren't taking any chances anymore with their oft-injured outfielder, and Buxton has missed some time recently due to knee tendonitis, so it's no surprise that he won't play in both games of the doubleheader. The 28-year-old is a must-start when active, but he went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts on Monday, so it might be a good time for a game off. Gilberto Celestino is in center field and is hitting ninth in Game 1 against Guardians right-hander Zach Plesac. Celestino is hitting .299 this year in 47 games, but he has no home runs and is just 4-for-21 (.191) in nine games over the last two weeks of action.
