3 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hand) won't require surgery on his fractured left hand, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. Buxton suffered the injury on June 21 after being hit by a pitch on his hand, just his third game back after missing the previous six weeks with a Grade 2 strain in his right hip. Manager Rocco Baldelli said that Buxton's images on his hand were reviewed and that he "won't require any procedures to correct it." While it's good news that he won't have to go under the knife, the speedy outfielder is still expected to be sidelined for at least a month- and perhaps longer- leaving the best-case scenario for his return sometime in August. It's incredibly frustrating for both the Twins and fantasy managers, as Buxton appeared to be heading towards a special season.--Tim Capurso
