6 years agoSan Francisco 49ers second-year quarterback C.J. Beathard will be under center for the foreseeable future starting Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers. With Jimmy Garoppolo (knee) out for the year, Beathard is expected to be the team’s primary signal caller even as the Niners work out several free agent quarterbacks. In 2017, the third-round pick out of Iowa appeared in seven games, throwing for 1,430 yards, four touchdowns, six interceptions, and posting a 69.2 quarterback rating. Beathard will square off against the Chargers, who have allowed the second-most points and eighth-most passing yards through three games. While the 49ers may trust the 24-year-old, he should be avoided in all fantasy formats.
