C.J. Uzomah Has MCL Sprain
3 years agoCincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said that the MRI exam on tight end C.J. Uzomah's knee was "encouraging," and he is dealing with an MCL sprain. Uzomah has a chance to be ready for the Super Bowl in two weeks against the Los Angeles Rams. The 29-year-old came down awkwardly on his left knee while trying to make a catch early in the AFC Championship win over the Kansas City Chiefs and needed to be carted to the locker room after being looked at on the sidelines. He never returned to the game and finished with no catches on just two targets. In the previous two playoff games, Uzomah had been a big contributor for the Bengals, catching 13 of 14 targets for 135 yards and one touchdown. If he's unable to return in time for the big game in two weeks, Drew Sample would be Cincy's primary pass-catching tight end in the Super Bowl. Sample had just one catch on two targets for four yards after Uzomah left on Sunday.
