5 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Cal Quantrill was demolished for eight earned runs Monday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Quantrill surrendered 10 hits including a six-run second inning and was mercifully pulled after five frames. Quantrill was earning praise and fantasy looks after a handful of quality outings but two consecutive eight-run clunkers have elevated his ERA from 3.32 to 4.57. The 24-year-old rookie is highly regarded within the Friars organization, so he should belong in future plans, but with a 7.4 K/9 doesn’t offer much upside to offset the inexperience risk.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
