Cal Quantrill Has Best Start Of Season
5 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Cal Quantrill made the best start of his young career, firing six scoreless innings Sunday against the Atlanta Braves. The rookie yielded three hits and a walk, striking out three and settling for a no-decision as he battled pitch-for-pitch with impressive Braves starter Mike Soroka. Shuttling between spot starts and the bullpen, Quantrill has registered a 4.21 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 7.5 K/9 in 47 frames. With the Friars bullpen in shambles, he’ll likely continue the hybrid role. Quantrill doesn’t miss enough bats to be a legitimate fantasy option but could be a useful streamer if he makes the occasional favorable start down the stretch.
