4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Caleb Smith racked up five strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings on Sunday in a 6-3 loss to the Giants. Smith allowed only one run and one hit, but he walked four batters as he struggled with command. Of his 58 pitches thrown, 31 were for strikes while 27 were called balls. Following Sunday's outing, Smith has now allowed seven runs on five hits and seven walks while striking out nine in 7 1/3 innings. Smith has been an inconsistent pitcher throughout his career, and this spring is doing nothing to dispel that notion. Until he can start turning out solid appearances on a regular basis, consider Smith a matchup-dependent streaming option with high strikeout potential.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
