6 years agoCarolina Hurricanes defenseman Calvin De Haan (eye) suffered a facial injury in the third period of Monday's 3-0 win against the Colorado Avalanche after taking a stick to the face at the 13:13 mark of the third period. He suffered a cut near his right eye and was taken to a local-area hospital for further medical assistance. "We had to take him to the hospital. We hope he's going to be OK," head coach Rod Brind'Amour said. The Hurricanes will have a couple of days off before returning to the ice Friday in a key battle against the Columbus Blue Jackets.--Daniel Dobish
