Cam Akers Didn't Anticipate Limited Week 1 Role

2 years agoLos Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers was apparently surprised by his limited workload in Week 1. The third-year pro had his share of doubters in the offseason, but nobody could've expected his usage to be limited to just 12 snaps, three carries, and zero yards. It appears that the 26-year-old may not only be trying to return to pre-injury form, but he's also in the doghouse. When speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Rams coach Sean McVay said that he had a conversation with the former Florida State back about playing with more urgency back in training camp. Judging by his Week 1 role and McVay's sentiments, Akers may have ways to earn back that sense of trust.
