Cam Akers Does Very Little In Win Over Bengals
3 years agoLos Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers and the team's ground game just could never get it going in the 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI on Sunday. Akers carried the ball a team-high 13 times for only 21 yards (1.6 yards per carry) and added three catches for 14 yards on four targets. The 22-year-old averaged less than three yards a carry in four playoff games for the Rams, but you have to remember that he suffered a torn Achilles back in training camp last summer. It was a small miracle that he played at all this year. The 22-year-old will have all offseason to train ahead of his third season in the NFL, where he should be the Rams bell-cow back. Especially with Sony Michel likely to depart in free agency, Akers will have a clear path to RB1 utility in this Rams offense in 2022.
