2 years agoLos Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers carried the ball three times for no yards in LA's 31-10 opening game loss to the Buffalo Bills. He added no production as a receiver, either. Teammate Darrell Henderson Jr. carried the ball 13 times and was targeted five times. It looks like Rams coach Sean McVay wasn't joking when he said the team might have two starting running backs. Akers and Henderson were both recovering from what McVay vaguely referred to as "soft-tissue" injuries throughout the preseason. Akers' performance was inefficient in last year's playoffs after he returned from an Achilles tear. The reason for his lack of involvement Thursday night is unclear. After the game, McVay said, "Overall, it was a tough night for us and it was a poor night in terms of the overall decision-making for my standpoint." Fantasy managers will have to see if Akers gets more opportunities next Sunday against the Falcons, in what should be a more run-friendly matchup.--Mitchell Blatt - RotoBaller
