Cam Newton Able To Return After Injury Scare
6 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (head) finished 11 of 17 for 142 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions while running twice for 13 yards in the preseason game Friday against the New England Patriots. He went up in the air, diving for extra yardage, and ended up landing head first. Newton immediately went to the medical tent, checked out fine and was able to return after the scare. Backup QB Taylor Heinicke completed five of his six passes for 46 yards while rushing for a score, perhaps sewing up the primary backup job. He also suffered a lower leg injury in the game, but was able to return. Newton will be a decent low-end QB1 in most fantasy formats. The Panthers open with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.
