Cam Newton Gets Day Off On Thursday
5 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (shoulder) did not participate in the team’s seventh day of training camp on Thursday. Though it would be easy to speculate why he wasn’t available, coach Ron Rivera indicated that the former MVP was simply taking a day off to rest. Newton had a procedure performed on his right shoulder in late January to address his lack of arm strength that hindered his productivity last season. The 30-year-old appeared in 14 games in 2018, throwing for 3,395 yards to go along with 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. After throwing in all of Carolina’s camp days thus far (except on Thursday), Newton appears to be ready to go when the team takes on Los Angeles Ram in Week 1. However, fantasy managers will still want to monitor his status over the next few weeks.
