3 years agoNew England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton will return to practice Thursday, per head coach Bill Belichick. He was held out of practice the last few days due to a COVID-19 "misunderstanding." The 32-year-old's absence allowed rookie QB Mac Jones to thrive in practice. Jones completed 35 of 40 passes against the New York Giants' starting defense, including a stretch of 18 consecutive completions. As expected, Newton returns to practice but is facing stiff competition from the Patriots rookie. The former Carolina Panther is a borderline QB2 after rushing for 12 touchdowns in 2020 but will need to secure the Patriots starting QB job if Newton to be fantasy relevant in 2021.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
