Cardinals Approaching Critical Juncture With Kyler Murray
3 years agoThe Arizona Cardinals must make a decision on exercising quarterback Kyler Murray's fifth-year option by next Tuesday. The option would cost the team $29.7 million. This would normally seem like a no-brainer for the team to exercise. However, with an apparently strained relationship surrounding a contract extension, this could light the fire to either get a long-term deal done or to explore a trade in order to avoid a holdout. It seems highly unlikely that Murray would be traded, considering the team extended head coach Kliff Kingsbury through 2027, but this offseason we can't rule out anything. The 24-year-old Murray finished 2021 with 3,787 yards passing yards, 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while adding 423 yards and another five scores on the ground. With the emergence of top-tier fantasy quarterbacks like Josh Allen and Justin Herbert, Murray is quietly becoming an excellent value in all formats with the upside and skill set to finish as the overall QB1.
