6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny stated that his team's closer role will "define in time." He continued, "Having a number of guys who can finish a game would be great. Somebody has to finish the last three." Relief pitcher Luke Gregerson would seem to be the leading candidate for now, but spring training performances will play a huge role in the Cardinals closer role this season. They may even decide to enter the season with a committee of sorts. Besides Gregerson, Bud Norris, Brett Cecil, Tyler Lyons and even Alex Reyes could be working ninth innings in St. Louis this season.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
