Cardinals Pick Up Kyler Murray's Fifth-Year Option
3 years agoThe Arizona Cardinals picked up the fifth-year option on quarterback Kyler Murray on Wednesday, according to a source. General manager Steve Keim said in early March that this would happen, and it's now official. Murray is locked in for nearly $30 million for the 2023 season after making two Pro Bowls. The 24-year-old was the first overall pick in 2019 and although the Cardinals season ended in playoff humiliation in the first round last year, Murray has improved in each of his three NFL seasons, topping out at a 69% completion rate and 7.9 yards per attempt in 2021. Murray and the Cardinals haven't seen eye to eye yet in terms of a long-term contract extension, but it doesn't sound like he's going anywhere. With 70 passing touchdowns, 1,786 rushing yards and 20 rushing TDs so far in his career, Murray will remain a high-end QB1 target in fantasy drafts.
