Cardinals Remain in Contact With Greg Holland

6 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals have remained in contact with free agent relief pitcher Greg Holland. Holland is certainly the biggest name still remaining on the free agent market, and the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves have also shown interest. Holland led the National League with 41 saves last season, posting a 3.61 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings. The Cardinals appear to be "the most logical spot" since they are missing a clear closer, certainly have playoff aspirations, and are not in danger of reaching the luxury tax threshold. With Luke Gregerson, Tyler Lyons, and Dominic Leone set to split closer duties in St. Louis, Holland would be an immediate difference maker in the Cardinals bullpen.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
