Carlos Carrasco's Hamstring Injury Classified As A Tear
4 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (hamstring, elbow) threw a 20-pitch live batting practice session on Thursday and strained his right hamstring during the follow-up conditioning work. It is now being reported that Carrasco's hamstring injury is being classified as a high-grade tear. He is probably looking at a six-to-eight week absence, according to a team source. Carrasco will now open the 2021 campaign on the injured list as he looks to come back from this injury. A more concrete timeframe for his absence should become more clear in the coming days when the Mets learn more about the injury. Carrasco's absence to begin the season will now open the door for two of David Peterson, Joey Lucchesi, and Jordan Yamamoto to begin the season in the rotation. Managers who have already drafted Carrasco should make plans to replace him on their staff for, potentially, the first two months of the 2021 season, if not longer, depending on the severity of the injury.
