4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Carlos Estevez blew the save on Wednesday when he allowed an unearned run on two walks but was credited with the win in an 8-7 victory over the San Diego Padres. Daniel Bard was unavailable on Wednesday so Estevez was sent in to protect a 7-6 lead in the ninth inning. He walked Tommy Pham and Fernando Tatis Jr. to start things off before getting Manny Machado to fly out. Wil Myers then reached on a Brendan Rodgers throwing error and Trent Grisham hit a sacrifice fly to tie the ball game. Estevez eventually settled down and got out of the inning and the Rockies were able to walk it off in the bottom half of the frame so all is well that ends well. He's blown his last two save opportunities and is 2-for-4 on the year but he appears to be the number two option behind Bard. Overall, Estevez owns a 3.86 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 19:8 K/BB ratio over 18 2/3 innings.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
