Carlos Estevez Locks Up The Save For Colorado
4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Carlos Estevez picked up his first save of the season on Tuesday when he allowed one run on one hit with a strikeout in a 7-5 win over the Giants in extra innings. Closer Daniel Bard blew a save in the ninth inning, so he was unavailable to pitch once the game went to extra innings. Estevez was called upon in the 10th inning to protect a three-run lead for Colorado and promptly served up an RBI single to Buster Posey before settling down to record the final three outs. The 28-year-old now owns a 4.15 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and nine strikeouts over 8 2/3 innings of relief. He's off the fantasy radar, though, as he doesn't pitch in enough high-leverage situations.
