4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitcher Carlos Martinez has been given the green light to return and begin doing baseball activities following his bout with COVID-19. Manager Mike Shildt was not able to announce Martinez’s timetable as of Monday, which likely indicates that he is a ways off from returning to a big league mound. Martinez was hit hard in his lone start this season, having yielding six runs across 3 ⅔ frames with the team attempting to get him back into the starting rotation. Whether getting that ramped up in such a short window is attainable remains to be seen, so owners will want to check back for an update when the Cardinals have a clearer picture of his outlook.--Jesse Borek
