3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez (thumb) could be done for the season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right thumb, according to Zachary Silver of MLB.com. Martinez suffered the injury at the end of June during an appearance at the plate, and prior to landing on the IL he was 4-9 with a 6.23 ERA, 1.372 WHIP and 15.7 percent strikeout rate over 82 1/3 innings of work. He shouldn't have been rostered at this point anyway, but any managers who are still hanging on to him can safely drop him to the waiver wire.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
