4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez had one of the worst starts in baseball history on Wednesday, allowing 10 runs in 2/3 of an inning. He allowed six hits and four walks and didn't record an out until opposing pitcher Walker Buehler gave himself up on a sacrifice bunt. Martinez's night was mercifully put to an end before the first inning even ended. His ERA ballooned to 5.83 on the season, and his career ERA, for a guy who has been pitching in the big leagues for nine years, went from 3.55 to 3.64 in the span of a few minutes. Things can only get better his next time out, but if you had Martinez in a fantasy lineup today: sorry for your loss.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
