7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to a right lat strain. Martinez uncharacteristically struggled in his most recent start, and this injury might explain why. He was absolutely lights out throughout April, and even with his less-than-stellar outing against the Twins, he has a 1.62 ERA over 50 innings. There's no timetable as of now for his return, but lat strains can linger for several weeks sometimes. Leaving behind the best ERA in the National League, Martinez is worth leaving in a bench spot even for owners without an open DL spot.--David A Marcillo - RotoBaller
