Carlos Martinez Likely To Return To Rotation Tuesday

4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-handed pitcher Carlos Martinez is in the plans to start one of the games during Tuesday’s doubleheader against the Twins. Martinez made just one start this season prior to being shut down following a positive COVID-19 test. After having spent 2019 as a reliever, there was some question as to what role Martinez would play with an abbreviated stretch run this season, but it appears as if the Cardinals will try and utilize him as a starter for the time being, which is vastly more beneficial for his fantasy intrigue. The combination of starting for the first time since July 28, mixed with facing a stout Twins offense, likely allows fantasy managers to look elsewhere, but he’s a name worth keeping an eye on over the final few weeks.--Jesse Borek
