4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez played through an injured ankle during Saturday's win over the Rockies, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Martinez said after the game that he hurt his ankle after slipping while celebrating Jack Flaherty's home run on Friday night, and that it caused him some pain during his delivery on Saturday. Despite allowing five runs on six hits and five walks in five innings, Martinez earned the win to improve to 3-4 on the year. There's no indication yet that this will be an issue going forward for Martinez, as managers will hope to see him bounce back in his next start against the Padres.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
