3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez (thumb) has been placed on the 10-day injured list. He suffered a right thumb sprain while taking an at-bat earlier in the week. The Cardinals have not given a timetable for Martinez, but it wouldn't be shocking to see him miss more than 10 days. Before going down, Martinez was posting a 6.23 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 82 1/3 innings this season. Outfielder Lars Nootbaar has been recalled to take his spot on the roster. Neither player appears to be much of an asset in fantasy leagues right now.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
