3 years agoSan Francisco Giants starting pitcher Carlos Rodon fanned four batters on just 40 pitches and generated nine swinging strikes in 2 2/3 innings in his Cactus League debut on Thursday against his former team, the Chicago White Sox. The left-hander also gave up two hits and a run but didn't walk anyone while throwing 40 pitches. Three of Rodon's strikeouts came on his fastball, which was sitting between 96-98 mph. "I could see what all the hype is about," catcher Curt Casali said. "Between that fastball and slider combination, it's legit. It's probably one of the best, if not the best, left-handed sliders I've ever seen." After posting a 2.37 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 185 strikeouts in 132 2/3 innings over 24 starts last year, Rodon is a solid SP2 target, albeit with some injury risk.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
