Case Keenum Not Expected Back With Browns
3 years agoThe Cleveland Browns are expected to trade or release backup quarterback Case Keenum this offseason, per Jeff Howe and Zac Jackson of The Athletic. The veteran signal-caller was a fine backup option in 2021, going 2-0 through two starts in Baker Mayfield's absence. He finished the season with 47 completions, 462 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Parting with Keenum prior to his final year under contract would create $7.1 million in cap space while carrying $1.3 million in dead money. He won't generate any interest as a potential starter, but all teams in the market for a backup quarterback should view him as a very strong option.
