4 years agoToronto Blue Jays second baseman/outfielder Cavan Biggio is not in the starting nine for Saturday’s contest against Boston and left-hander Mike Kickham. Biggio has been slumping over his past seven games, going just 5-for-29 with eight strikeouts in that stretch. The team will instead deploy Joe Panik at the keystone in Biggio’s place, with Jonathan Villar holding down the leadoff spot. Should Biggio not come off the bench Saturday, it would mark his first absence all season, as his 173 plate appearances lead the American League. There’s no reason to believe that it’s anything more than a day of rest and he should be back in the mix Sunday.--Jesse Borek
