2 years agoBoston Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy said on Monday that the team isn't planning to cut ties with either general manager Chaim Bloom or manager Alex Cora after this season. "I am very comfortable saying Chaim and Alex will be back. And I am very comfortable saying there is a strong belief in the direction of the franchise from our ownership group," Kennedy said. Entering Monday's action, the Red Sox are in last place in the American League East and 5 1/2 games behind the rebuilding Baltimore Orioles. The Red Sox exercised Cora's options for 2023 and 2024 last November, while Bloom is in the third year of a long-term deal of at least five years, according to sources.
