Chargers GM: We Won't Discuss Melvin Gordon Contract In-season
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco told the media on Sunday that the team will not discuss a contract extension with running back Melvin Gordon during the season. Gordon, of course, has held out the entire preseason in hopes of signing a new, long-term deal with the team. If the Chargers stick to this stance, Gordon's only options are to report to the team or continue to sit out and lose a $330,000 game check for every missed game. Gordon needs to report to the team by Week 10 at the latest in order to accrue the service time needed to become a free agent in 2020. The Chargers appear prepared to go into the season with Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackson as their lead backs.
