Chargers Officially Sign Sony Michel
2 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers signed free-agent running back Sony Michel to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday, according to sources. Michel was cut loose by the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday, but he'll quickly find a new home in a loaded Chargers offense. Joshua Kelley figures to open the 2022 regular season as Austin Ekeler's primary backup, but Michel could compete for backup duties with Kelley once he gets a grasp on his new team's offense. The addition of Michel is certainly bad news for Kelly and rookie Isaiah Spiller, who now figures to be fourth on the RB depth chart. The 27-year-old Michel is worth a waiver addition in deeper leagues, especially if you have Ekeler rostered. The former first-rounder had 208 carries for 845 yards and four touchdowns in 17 regular season games for the Los Angeles Rams in 2021, adding 21 catches for 128 yards and a touchdown receiving.
