3 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers "aren't going to let Mike Williams go," according to a person with direct knowledge of the situation. If both sides can't agree on a long-term contract extension, the Chargers are prepared to slap the franchise tag on the impending free agent. The franchise tag for receivers this year will cost $19 million, but Williams had the best season of his career in 2021 with 76 receptions on 129 targets for 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games. The sky is the limit moving forward for Williams with impressive young quarterback Justin Herbert throwing him passes.
