Charlie Blackmon Likely Moving Back To Leadoff Spot
7 years agoThe Colorado Rockies experiment with outfielder Charlie Blackmon at the No. 3 spot appears to be over with the signing of Carlos Gonzalez, according to MLB.com's Thomas Harding. Gonzalez will most likely bat fourth or fifth, presumably where third baseman Nolan Arenado and shortstop Trevor Story were going to hit. Leaving Blackmon in the three-hole would move either Story or Gonzalez to the sixth spot and while that would be a threatening middle of the order, that still leaves the gaping hole at the leadoff spot. The simple fix is to move Blackmon back to the leadoff spot. Wait for official word from Rockies manager Bud Black, but as of now, hold the expectation that Blackmon will be hitting leadoff this season.
