Charlie Morton Looks To Bounce Back Against Yankees
7 years agoHouston Astros starter Charlie Morton will look to get back to his winning ways Monday night against the Yankees in Houston. After starting the season white-hot, Morton (3-0) struggled against the Angels last week, allowing two home runs and four runs while lasting only four innings. It was a far departure from his first three starts, when he allowed only two earned runs in his first 25 innings pitched. The veteran pitcher was excellent at home last season, going 10-3 with a 3.34 ERA with 106 strikeouts in 97 innings. The key to success Monday will be limiting the long ball and pitching away from Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton (9-for-18 lifetime against Morton).
